Oilfield Vacuum & DOT Tanks
80 bbl. Vacuum Truck Tank
Many locations in the San Juan Basin of Northern New Mexico are too difficult to access by transport trailer, so most liquids transport is done by truck tank. The standard design is an 80 bbl. Vacuum Tank mounted on a 60,000 GVW Truck, but the brutal high desert oilfield requires everything to be overbuilt and designed for severe use.
Largo Tank & Equipment, Inc. has been manufacturing tanks since 1987 for exactly that kind of application, and we maintain our reputation by over-engineering and requiring high tolerance quality control on every product that rolls out of our shop.
The tanks have liquid cooled vacuum pumps, full internal baffles (much stronger than rings), neoprene sill pads with interlocking tank mounts, tire chain racks, and LED lights, along with dozens of standard features requested by our customers to make them more user friendly. We’ve also worked tirelessly to eliminate stress points, examining all tanks that come in for service and checking for issues.
These tanks can be modified to fit your needs; we’ll work with you to make your tank perfect for the job at hand. Common options include increased flow rates and/or higher pressures, outfitting with nozzles and controls for use as a road water truck, linings and pump specs for particular products or operating environments, specialty plumbing, lighting and electrical to meet producer requirements, and virtually any other design modification that is needed.
Complete List of Vacuum Tank Features
- ASME Code Heads Provide maximum strength designed to withstand 25 PSI internal pressure and 15 PSI (full vacuum) external pressure
- Two sanitary (welded both sides) dished and flared baffles provide full circumferential reinforcement
- Interlocking channel mounting system utilizes neoprene pads between tank and truck frame with cushions for bolts. Prevents horizontal motion and allows for separate movement of truck frame without damaging tank.
- Boxed full length frame –Greatest strength and even distribution of load.
- Fenders designed for hose storage utilizing formed components for minimum weight , easy to clean and trouble free service
- Masport and National Vacuum Equipment tank components –Reliability and parts availability
- Wiring-lights boxed and wiring run in conduit. All connections soldered and shrink tube protected
- Lights- Genuine Truck-Lite LED lifetime warranty lights standard
- Paint-sandblasted and primed with epoxy base then finished with a polyurethane top coat for very good durability
- Masport, Challenger and Fruitland Vacuum pumps- Multiple options from the best manufacturers in the business. Standard is Masport’s water cooled HXL75WV
- Quality pump drive components for lower maintenance
- Piping system designed for minimum flow resistance
- Valves-Easy to service Ultraflo wafer style butterfly valves
- Heavy duty tool boxes- problem free for years of water tight service
- Largo is a DOT registered cargo tank manufacturer and Final Stage Vehicle manufacturer ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
- User options happily included
DOT Tanks
Operating in the oil and gas field known as the San Juan Basin is tough. Conditions and terrain are about as bad as it gets in the business. Most locations are too difficult to access by transport trailer, so most liquids transport is done by vacuum truck tank.
Producers in the San Juan Basin became concerned that as shippers, they were responsible for the hazardous materials being transported by non-spec vacuum trucks off their locations and pipelines. Non-Spec Tanks are not rated for hauling hydrocarbons, crude and chemicals, as they don’t meet the stringent guidelines of DOT 407 requirements. Largo Tank stepped up to the plate and designed a DOT407 truck tank that can withstand the rigors of the oilfield and answer the safety concerns of the producers. The tank is designed to transport natural gas liquids, crude oil, contaminated water, methanol, ect. Built to the extremely stringent ASME code, the units typically have a capacity of 80 bbls., and are built out of high strength pressure vessel plate.
The tanks have liquid cooled vacuum pumps, full baffles (much stronger than rings), venting to prevent explosion, neoprene sill pads with interlocking tank mounts, tire chain racks, and LED lights, along with dozens of standard features requested by our customers to make them more user friendly. We’ve also worked tirelessly to eliminate stress points, examining all tanks that come in for service and checking for issues. Our newest design has traveled on trucks more than 30 million miles from Wyoming to Wolf Creek Pass to the Permian Basin of Texas without having a single tank failure.
These tanks can be modified to fit your needs; we’ll work with you to make your tank perfect for the job at hand. Common options include increased flow rates and/or higher pressures, outfitting with crude or waste oil specific pumps, chemical resistant linings and pump specs for particular products or operating environments, specialty plumbing, lighting and electrical to meet producer requirements, and virtually any other design modification that is needed.
